Reporter Kevin Forsyth is the newest member of the PQB News editorial team.

Forsyth takes over for reporter Mandy Moraes, who has moved to the Nanaimo News Bulletin, another Black Press publication.

“I love writing, meeting new people and exploring new places, so I’m very excited to be doing that in PQB, which I think is one of the most beautiful places in Canada,” said Forsyth.

He will cover the area arts scene, as well as Parksville city council, School District 69 and more.

“Kevin will be an impactful and welcome addition to our team,” said PQB News publisher Teresa Bird. “He has an excellent knowledge of the Parksville Qualicum Beach area and issues and we look forward to having him share the stories that are important to our communities and our readers.”

Forsyth, born and raised in Saskatoon, completed a diploma in digital journalism at Lethbridge College before moving to Vancouver Island in 2020. He also received a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology at the University of Saskatchewan in 2014.

“One thing I really enjoy is travelling,” he said. “I spent three weeks in Shenyang, China and four months working and travelling in Australia. What I discovered is that leaving Canada only made me appreciate this place even more. I recently married my lovely wife and I am trying my best to learn Spanish, which is her first language.”

Forsyth can be reached with your questions and story ideas at kevin.forsyth@pqbnews.com and 250-905-0028.
