Royal LePage Parksville-Qualicum Beach Realty held successful fundraisers last year for an area women’s shelter despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Led by Team Susan Forrest, they were able to stage a bottle drive and garage sale that generated a total of $11,174.40.
The recipient of Royal Lepage’s efforts was the Haven Society, a community-based victim services program that serves the Parksville and Qualicum Beach communities, providing shelter for women and children. A cheque presentation was held at the Royal Lepage office on Feb. 23 attended by Haven Society’s new executive director, Jan Ference, and manager Dawn Clark.

The fundraiser is in conjunction with the Canada-wide Royal Lepage Shelter Foundation, which raises funds in support of women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. Richard Plowens said Royal LePage in Parksville Qualicum Beach has been an eager participant in this endeavour.
Forrest indicated all the money raised benefits local organizations and programs.
“All the funds stay here,” said Forrest, who is grateful for the support they’ve received from the community during their fundraising initiatives.
Ference expressed gratitude for the donation. The funds, she said, will be a big help to the programs and services the society provides to the community.
