Scores of delighted residents enjoy snow day fun at Parksville Community Park

Loads of snow falling in the region could be a downer (especially if you’re on the road) but for some in the Parksville Qualicum Beach community, it’s an opportunity to have a little fun.

It was a beautiful sight at the Parksville Community Park on Wednesday, as people, young and old, came out to walk, run and enjoy some sledding. The screams and yells of delight echoed throughout and the laughter was contagious.

Some at the bottom of the hill built snowmen, snowcastles, even rolled giant snowball. Others sat by a propane fire in their lawn chairs amid the snowy landscape to keep warm while watching their children enjoy the day.

The sun also came out and made the day even brighter.

One parent commented: “It sure is a beautiful day. And for sure, the children are having fun. They will sleep well tonight.”
