Slideshow: Bike parade ensues for Tour de Rathtrevor

The bike parade and events were in support of the 2018 Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock

A bike parade ensued on Aug. 1 at Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park for Tour de Rathtrevor. Tour de Rock Cops for Cancer 2018 team rider Allison Roberts, from Parksville, lead a group of young cyclists around the park.

The Tour de Rathtrevor event takes place once again on Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Roberts, who organizes kids programming and oversees the nature houses at Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park, is the only Parksville Qualicum Beach resident taking part in the tour this year. The team consists of 22 riders from around the Island.

On Sunday, Aug. 19 is a bottle drive at the Parksville Bottle and Recycling Depot (611A Alberni Hwy.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If people don’t have a way to get the recyclables to the depot, the organizers can send somebody out to pick them up.

Ongoing at Rathtrevor park is the open-air movie nights every Tuesday starting at 7 p.m. Sit on benches or bring a chair. Treats and other snacks are available by donation to support Tour de Rock. Everyone is welcome.
