Over 300 people took part in an illustration of the size of an oil tanker on Parksville Beach.

There is now a video on-line from an event on Parksville Beach Canada Day in which the Communities to Protect Our Coast (CPOC) group, Oceanside Running Club members and other supporters joined forces to produce a graphic representation of the size of the 330 metre long, 60 metre wide oil tankers proposed for use with the Northern Gateway pipeline project.

Sheri Plummer reported that more than 300 people gathered on the beach to take part in the event which was filmed for a documentary called Coastal Tarsands, being made by local filmmaker Richard Boyce.

Video of the event is on-line at http://youtu.be/clU4NlWr8z0 and portions of the documentary are available at www.CoastalTarSands.ca.
