The Coombs Farmers’ Institute held its first apple pressing event at the Coombs Fairgrounds on Sat. Oct,. 14.

People with 100 lbs. of apples (or pears) or more could get their fruit juiced by Pressing Matters’ mobile juicer. Boxes and tubs of apples from community members were already piling up by 10 a.m. Saturday morning, with some people saying they were delighted by the opportunity.

Errington resident Russ Ramsden said the pressing was an opportunity to use the apples that grow in his yard every year. He said he’d try making wine with the juice.
