‘The Club Nous Chantons’: Celebrates its15th anniversary in songs for the Solstice, The St-Jean-Baptiste and Canada Day. 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Parksville Community Park, at the Arboretum. Parking at the curling rink. Bring your lawn chair. Lyrics provided. Free event. All ages.


Oceanside Folk/Roots and Blues Club:  Celebrates their end of season with a double bill presentation of world music. String Fever (Gypsy Jazz) and Cafe Ole (Flamenco and South American Music). Twilight Concert No. 1: Saahtlam Park, Qualicum Beach. 3319 Island Highway West. Featuring the Oceanside Big Band, presented by the St. Andrews Lodge Historical and Cultural Society. A great evening of live music in a beautiful waterfront setting; admission by donation. Wheelchair accessible, designated disabled parking. 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Bring your chair, blanket and your dancin’ shoes!

Oceanside Chess Club: Hosting the first annual Oceanside Rapid tournament. Club meets on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Marks Church, 138 Hoylake Rd. We are looking for about 30–35 players. The club will provide clocks and boards, but we appreciate it if players bring their own. Cost to enter will be $20. Tournament will be a fundraiser to buy more clocks and boards. Mid Island Artisans Collective: Hosting an outdoor Oceanside market featuring art and hand-crafted goods by 60 local artisans. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pacific Shores Resort and Spa, 1600 Stroulger Rd., Nanoose Bay. Follow the on-site signs to find the oceanside locale. There will be food and drink for purchase from Pacific Moon Rising Bar & Grill, the resort’s restaurant. Admission is free to this event. The Collective collects non-perishable food donations at their markets for local food banks. Live musical talents Josh Carter and Ryder Bachman will perform.


Parksville’s Canada Day Celebrations: Join the City of Parksville at Canada Day celebrations 2024 with traditional parade, opening ceremony, Canada Day cupcakes, entertainment featuring Bobs & Lolo and The Apollos, buskers, food trucks, and more! Come for the day and celebrate with families, neighbours, and friends. Info:

Qualicum Beach’s Canada Day Celebrations: The day will kick off with a pancake breakfast at the Legion at 8:30 a.m. The parade leaves the Civic Centre at 1 p.m. winding through Town to Veterans Way. Events focus on children and families at the Activity Village with games, bouncy castles, face-painting, as well as Make-and-Take tables. A wide range of live music will be offered throughout the day, featuring Eric Michael, The Apollos, Cheers, 8 Second Ride and the headliner Completely Creedence. Burgers and hot dogs and a full lineup of refreshments available until 10 p.m. Ice cream truck will be on-site.


Fundraiser for Forward House Community Society: Music event being hosted by DAYJAVU by donation, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Memorial Plaza, Parksville. Come by, enjoy the music, contribute what you can and all proceeds will be donated to Forward House ( a non-profit providing programming and supports to adults and their loved ones living in the Oceanside area, who are experiencing mental health and/or addiction recovery challenges.  Promoting healthy, meaningful and independent lives.


Rotary Club of Parksville: New members welcome. Club meets at the Parksville Community Centre, 223 Mills St., every second and fourth Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Weekly Bottle Drop, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Speedy Glass in Parksville. All recyclable bottles, cans and milk cartons accepted, with funds raised going back into the community. Info:

Royal Canadian Legion Qualicum Beach Branch 76: Open 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week; Ladies Pool, Tuesday, 1 p.m. and Drop-in pool 1 p.m.; Monday-Thursday, Darts, casual Fridays 6 p.m. Meat Draws: Friday & Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the lounge. Qualicum Beach Farmers Market: A vibrant hub of local commerce and community connection. Join us every Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to noon, on Veterans Way, throughout the year, for a diverse assortment of vendors. The market also features live music, children's activities, and food trucks, creating a lively atmosphere that's enjoyable for all ages. Just inside the market space you will find the Legion pancake breakfast that runs May through September.  

Oceanside Caregivers: Meet the last Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. at The Gardens Long Term Care, 650 Berwick Rd., North, in Qualicum Beach. We bring support by way of understanding, caring and resources, in a confidential setting. Info: 250-752-2104 or

Qualicum Beach PROBUS Group: We are an active social group of retired and semi-retired seniors which meets on the first Tuesday each month at St. Stephen’s Church (150 Village Way, Qualicum Beach). We have a variety of interesting and diverse speakers and several special interest groups. We welcome guests interested in exploring, joining us and meeting new friends.
