Welcome to the Port Theatre Society, a charitable not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of Nanaimo.
Co-managed with the City of Nanaimo, we operate the Port Theatre, located on the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. Since opening in 1998, our 804-seat theatre has become a cornerstone of the community, renowned for our acclaimed Spotlight Series showcasing Canadian and international artists.
With over 250 events annually, we host a diverse range of performances, from music concerts and theatre productions to community gatherings and conferences, attracting more than 100,000 visitors each year. Designed by architect Terry Williams, the Port Theatre boasts excellent sightlines, superb acoustics, and a warm, intimate atmosphere that audiences love.
