The Bayside Gallery, located in the dining room of the Bayside Oceanfront Resort in Parksville, has a new exhibit.
In partnership with the McMillan Arts Centre (MAC), the works of Tony Grove, Dawne Brandel and Patt Scrivener will be shown until June 30.
Tony Grove has worked as a commercial illustrator and artist, producing work for Vancouver clients and magazines. One of the largest illustration projects was a book for the United Nations through the Food and Agriculture Organization, which has since been published into several languages for distribution around the world. In 2005, he began working full-time for himself as an artist, writer, part-time teacher, custom woodworker and boatbuilder while working at his home studio tucked amongst the trees on Gabriola Island.

Dawne Brandel was born in Kelowna. From an early age she has always loved the arts and has immersed herself in art classes throughout school. Drawing and composition classes at The Alberta College of Art solidified Brandel’s desire to take it to the next level. Floral design and horticulture became a passion where she spent most of her adult career. The floral arts teach all about composition, texture, design and colour that influence her paintings today. Retirement from floristry has allowed the time commitment to paint.
Patt Scrivener was born in Nipawin, Sask., and grew up on a grain farm with four siblings. Although there was always lots of work to do, there was time to create as well.
Scrivener works in many mediums including acrylic, encaustic and cold wax with oil. Her work includes imagery of people, landscape and abstraction. The layering of a variety of media offers an assortment of possibilities within her work. In 2007, She studied life coaching and this was instrumental in her decision to becoming a full-time artist and to help others develop their creativity.
