Jazz musician Phil Dwyer will perform a concert at the Old School House (TOSH) Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach on Oct. 23.
The multi-award-winning saxophonist will play a concert called “Food for Thought with Phil Dwyer” at 2:30 p.m. at the arts centre (122 Fern Road W). The show is part of TOSH’s Music on Sunday series.
Dwyer was appointed to as a Member of the Order Of Canada in 2013 for his contributions to jazz as a performer, composer and producer and for increasing access to music education in his community, according to a news release from TOSH.
In 2015 he was recognized by the Royal Conservatory of Music as an Honorary Fellow.
Dwyer has had a 30-year career collaborating with a storied roster of great musical artists, crossing stylistic and geographic borders, according to the release.

He has appeared on 10 Juno Award-winning recordings, and more than 30 nominated recordings. Dwyer is a recipient of the prestigious K.M. Hunter Prize, for excellence in the arts.
The concert will be about 75 minutes long, with festival seating.
Tickets are $35, plus GST and are available online.
Students tickets are $20, plus GST — students must call TOSH at 250-752-6133 to get their tickets.
There is a maximum of 60 tickets per show, allowing for adequate seating space.
