The Errington Hall will feature original songs steeped in bluegrass and old-time music traditions this Saturday, as the Annie Lou Band comes to town.

Leader of the group, Anne Louise Genest, moved to the area from Yukon last year and band members from Yukon and Toronto will join her on stage.

Genest was up for two nominations at the Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) in 2012 for her latest album, Grandma’s Rules for Drinking, and her group’s first album was also nominated for a Juno and a CFMA.

Look for a feature article on Genest in The NEWS on Thursday.

Meanwhile, get your tickets to the Errington Hall show, happening Saturday, Jan. 19 at 8 p.m., at Cranky Dog Music in Parksville, Heaven on Earth in Qualicum Beach and at the Errington Store.

Tickets are $20, $5 for under 12, and free for under 5. For more on Genest and her stringband visit www.annielou.ca.
