Live music continues at the Shady Rest Pub this weekend with local country and Western band Asleep at the Steel.
The group is comprised of four well-known, veteran musicians, Mike Jarvis, Mike Vaira, Tom Burton and Tim Griffins.
“These are very seasoned professionals; these are good players,” said Griffins.
The band plays traditional country with some new stuff incorporated, said Griffins, and country music lovers will recognize covers like George Jones, Merle Haggard and George Strait.
Patrons at the pub will hear a combination of instruments like steel guitar, dobro, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass and drums as well as vocals from the band this weekend. There will also be some guest singers performing with the band.
Griffins said he’s excited The Shady is bringing live music to the community.
"The Shady really wants to turn it into a real live music place and I love that because it keeps all these crazy musicans busy and happy and doing what we're supposed to be doing," he said.
Asleep at the Steel plays at 7 p.m. at the Shady Rest Pub this Saturday, March 19.
