Blue Moon Marquee will perform at the Parksville Museum (1245 Island Highway E) on Sunday.
The duo, made up of Jasmine Colette and A.W. Cardinal, will play original compositions influenced by anything that swings, jumps or grooves at 1 p.m. on Aug. 7, according to a news release by the museum.
Colette not only commands the upright bass, but also plays, with her feet, the kick drum, snare and high hat, all while singing harmonies. Cardinal plays guitar and also sings in the screaming and hollering blues tradition.
After a decade of touring North America and Europe, Blue Moon Marquee has developed a distinct style that blends blues, jazz, jump jive, folk, country, swing and Indigenous soul.
The band’s fifth album, Scream, Holler & Howl, will be released this September.
Admission is $20 at the gate. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and sunscreen. Food trucks will be on site.
