The first Fanjam festival at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds didn’t raise as much for charity as organizers had hoped.

Organizers are happy with the first Fanjam festival held at the Coombs Rodeo Grounds last weekend, but they didn’t hit the high notes they had hoped with attendance.

“We’re really happy with the way the event went itself,” said organizer Adrian Blake, “but a typical situation… we would liked to have seen more people.”

All the money raised will go to the B.C. Children’s Hospital, and although Blake was hoping to double the donations raised at last year’s event, he’s pretty sure the event raised less this year, although final numbers have yet to come in.

Last year the event, held at Blake’s home, saw 440 people and raised $7,000 for the B.C. Children’s Hospital. Blake said attendance was comparable to last year, but expenses were higher this year having moved over to the Coombs Rodeo Grounds.

Next year the show will go on, Blake confirmed, and will most likely take place at the Rodeo Grounds again.

However organizers have been offered other venues, which they will discuss at an upcoming meeting, as well as other ideas like having a headliner group and looking at ways of playing later into the evening.
