When the Parksville Golden Oldies Sports Association holds their annual variety show on March 22, they’ll be hitching their wagons to a wild west theme.
Variety show director Phyllis Donnelly said the idea is not only for the performers, but also the audience to imagine they’re part of a wagon train heading out west.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Donnelly said.
“The concept is we are all on the wagon train heading west, stopped for the night, gathered around the campfire and we have some old-fashioned campfire fun with old time music, sing-alongs, instrumentalists and soloists.”
The group has been putting on these variety shows for at least the past decade, Donnelly said, and they have grown to be one of their biggest events of the year.
“It’s just a fun night,” she said.
“Everyone really enjoys it.”
The event, which costs $25 per ticket for PGOSA members and an additional $3 for non-members, includes a dinner and no-host bar.
Doors open at 5 p.m. for happy hour, with dinner at 6 p.m. and the show at 7 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the PGOSA booth at Oceanside Place Monday, Wednesday or Friday mornings between 9 and 11 a.m.
