Ballenas Secondary School’s jazz program is seeing stars after both the Junior Stage Band and the Senior Stage band both took home gold at the West Coast Jazz Festival in Port Alberni.
The two bands are traveling to the Nationals (Musicfest Canada) this year thanks to their performances at last year at the event and they have now qualified to attend next year’s competition as well.
The BSS bands will be playing at the opening of the Aliens Among Us exhibit at the Craig Park Heritage Museum on May 14, an exhibit about invasive plants and animals in B.C.
