Peter Mason is a legend in this town.

The laid back musician has penned songs like Fat Ass Apple Bread, about bread he bought at the Errington Market, and Keep on Walking, which he wrote for the District 69 trail system event.

He also sings some traditional folk tunes, a bit of country, some bluegrass and sometimes a popular rock song, depending on his audience.

Mason has played markets and events around the area for years where his positive attitude and genuine love for music has been contagious.

He also plays every Friday night at the Sandbar Cafe, where he is often joined by other musicians.

Mason will play at the Acoustic Cafe November 1 with special guest Bev Finch.

The Qualicum Acoustic Cafe happens on the first Friday of every month at Rotary House, located at 211 Fern Rd. West, at the corner of Beach Rd. The first half of the show is open mic, and following intermission, the feature act. Tickets are $5 available from the Vintage Candy Shop in Qualicum Beach, and youth are free. Seating is limited.

Those interested in playing open mic contact John Beaton at jabeaton@gmail.com or Dave Barta at dbarta@shaw.ca.
