Free meditation classes are starting at the McMillan Arts Centre March 5.
The teachers, Allan and Inge Morrissey, are originally from Austria and have been holding the free classes for the past 20 years in that country and most recently, on the mainland.
“Since I started to learn this meditation and practised it, I saw benefits right away,” said Inge, adding that her husband also got a lot out of the practice. “The only way to give something back for what we got is to pass it on and this is why we’re doing it.”
The Morrisseys will teach Sahaja Yoga Meditation, involving simple and effective techniques to master stress, improve health, face yourself and achieve balance, Inge said.
There is no exercising involved in the practice, it is an “inner yoga” Inge explained, a silent meditation with a few simple techniques.
The classes run for about an hour Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m., beginning March 5, and will run for eight weeks.
