Art lovers in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area are in for a treat.

The Bayside Oceanfront Resort, in partnership with the McMillan Arts Centre (MAC), have created the new Bayside Gallery (240 Dogwood St., Parksville) in the resort dining room, with three brand-new exhibits to showcase.

On Oct. 1, 2021, the new Bayside Gallery opened with exhibits featuring three local artists: Kelly Corbett, G.A. (Tony) Fuller and Margery Blom. The pieces are diverse in both subject and medium.

Fuller is a photographer who specializes in images of totem poles from Indigenous communities in B.C. The images are printed onto canvas, some in colour, others in black and white, and are available framed and unframed.

Blom, a member of the MAC School for Creative Arts faculty, produces colourful oil paintings of different locations around Vancouver Island.

Corbett is known for her large canvas acrylics of seascapes of Vancouver Island.

All of the artwork is for sale through the MAC and each piece has a label with a title and QR code which links directly to the online gallery store for easy purchase processing (purchasers can also call the MAC to arrange payment directly). The artwork is given to the purchaser the same day, or shipped through Canada Post.

“Creating a new gallery in (Parksville Qualicum Beach) has been an exceptional experience,” said the executive director of the MAC, Jennifer Bate. “The management at the Bayside Oceanfront Resort have been so welcoming and supportive in this project. And in particular, I’d like to recognize Storm Jespersen, sales manager, for his enthusiasm and commitment to supporting local artists. We invite you to visit the Bayside Oceanfront Resort and celebrate with us the newest art gallery in (Parksville Qualicum Beach). Enjoy a wonderful meal in their newly renovated and remodelled dining area, with incredible views of the Parksville beach and area.”

The current exhibit featuring Corbett, Fuller and Blom will run until Dec. 31, 2021.
