The McMillan Arts Centre (MAC) in Parksville welcomes three new exhibitions this month.

Displays by Terri Bowen, Nicoline Mann and Jim Sears will hang in the arts centre (133 McMillan St.) from March 11 until April 2, according to a news release by the MAC.

Visitors can check out Bowen’s Oceanside Landscapes: a Painting Collection in the Concert Gallery.

Bowen has used her love of, and experience with, the landscapes of Vancouver Island to create a collection of acrylic paintings. Using her own photographs, as well as those by locals Allan Bassett and Karen Bull, she has transferred this recorded beauty to vibrant canvases.

Bowen wishes to also acknowledge the involvement of her many art students who have enhanced her life-long learning in the arts.

Wild Emblems of Canada by Nicoline Mann is a 13-piece series which depicts the official flora and fauna of each Canadian province and territory. It is on display in the MAC’s Oceanside Gallery. Mann is a mixed media artist who creates animal, wildlife and nature-inspired creations in her Nanaimo studio.

Jim Sears’ exhibition West Coast, East Coast and parts in between… Inspired by Nature can be found in the Nemeth Gallery. Sears has been interested in art and painting for most of his life. After 45 years in the forest industry, he is retired and has taken up painting again, enjoying pen and ink with watercolour wash.

“I tend not to paint what I haven’t experienced and seen with my own eyes,” Sears said in his artist statement.
