The 'Night at the Palace' vaudeville burlesque show offers a fun trip back in time, with the thematic variety show providing music and laughs from the era of the 1890s up to the 1930s.
It's also Errington Hall's biggest fundraiser, often selling out, and marks its 19th year in 2025.
“It’s probably the only kind of vaudeville show of its style, because we only use live music. We don’t have any recorded music, " said Paula Bowman, who first performed in the show 15 years ago.
The Night at the Palace show will run on Feb. 14, Feb. 15, Feb. 21 and Feb. 22 at Errington War Memorial Hall, located at 1390 Errington Rd.
The show combines the talents of the Palace Band and a large cast of actors, most of whom are amateur performers, Bowman said. All the performers, who volunteer their time, are dressed in period costumes, with the different acts responsible to find or make their own costumes and set pieces, she added.
“That’s the other thing that’s a little bit different from other burlesque or vaudeville or variety shows, is that we’re all dressed in costume as if we were in the 1920s or earlier,” she said.
The show is about two hours long, with a 20-to-30-minute intermission and usually wraps up around 10:30 p.m.
The show is appropriate for adults only.
It takes a lot of volunteer hours, with the performers giving up most of their weekends in February, Bowman said.
“We’re all just there because we love the hall,” she said.
Most of the tickets were sold during an event at the hall in January, but the remaining tickets are available for $30 each, with cash, at the Errington Store. No online tickets are available.
The four 'Night at the Palace' performances start at 8 p.m. Home baked goodies, ginger tea and Creekmore’s coffee will be available from the kitchen.
