Theatre lovers in Qualicum Beach will be pleased to know that the Village Theatre is once again playing host to the Vancouver Island Juried One Act Play Festival.
2019 marks the 15th year that the festival will be hosted at the Qualicum Beach theatre.
One-act plays will be presented from a variety of theatre groups across Vancouver Island. Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows will start at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinee starts at 2 p.m.
The festival will feature eight shows over the course of four days. Each show offers two one-act plays.
Today (Nov. 7), ECHO Players will present Third and Oak: The Laundromat, and Kwalikum Secondary School will present Selfie.

On Friday Nov. 8, the Nanaimo District Secondary School of Dance Co. will perform It Haunts Me, and ECHO Players will present Family Matters.
Saturday, Nov. 9, HB Productions out of Victoria will present Don’t Touch the Clouds, and Theatreworks from Courtenay will perform Theatre Etiquette 101.
Sunday, Nov. 10 will see the ECHO Players Youth Group performing The Philadelphia, and the Geri Actors will perform Between Mouthfuls.
The festival is billed as a “daring and imaginative collection of One Act Plays from enthusiastic and talented artists from all over Vancouver Island.”
The festival will be adjudicated this year by Dean Chadwick and Rob Mowbray. After each performance, the two will provide a short critique which is open to the public.
