It was a feast for the eyes, the ears and the funny bone at the 23rd annual Premiere Performance on Wednesday evening, April 26.

The Kwalikum Secondary School arts showcase, arranged by the KSS Fine Arts Society, saw a large crowd pack the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.

The evening began with the visual arts gallery, displaying paintings, sketches and sculptures from KSS students. Many of these included Canadian wildlife and culture themes.

A large papier mâché and wire totem pole attracted a good amount of attention, while pun sculptures were another highlight.

Then came the music department, with performances by the Grade 10-12 concert band, the Grade 8 concert band, the Grade 8-12 concert choir and the Grade 9-10 concert band.

The performance of Stardance had musicians play off the stage, with Dan Craven conducting from the middle of the audience to start.

The KSS drama department performed several short comedy sketches that had the audience laughing heartily.

The money raised through ticket sales at the Premiere Performance goes toward the Kwalikum Secondary School Fine Arts Society which gives out money to KSS art, music and drama students.
