The "Party on the Plaza" event was a resounding success this past Saturday, Sept. 7.
Almost 200 people gathered at Memorial Plaza to enjoy a day of live music, community spirit, and celebration in the heart of downtown Parksville, according to a news release by the Parksville Downtown Business Association (PDBA).
The crowd was treated to electrifying performances from DJ Connor, local rising star Malakai and the talented James Vickers Band, whose music kept the energy high throughout the afternoon.
The event was part of the Route 19A Music Festival, a broader initiative to bring arts, culture and live entertainment to small venues in Oceanside.
“We’re thrilled with the turnout and the positive feedback from the community,” said Teresa Cooper, executive director of the PDBA. “Seeing Memorial Plaza filled with people enjoying local music and each other’s company really highlights the potential for Parksville Downtown as a lively gathering space.”
The Party on the Plaza is part of the PDBA's ongoing efforts to foster a sense of community and create opportunities for residents and visitors to experience everything downtown has to offer.
The event's high turnout numbers marked a significant milestone in the business improvement area's goal to animate and revitalize the downtown area.
“We want to thank everyone who came out to support local talent and enjoy a day of fun in the plaza,” Cooper added. “It was a perfect example of what we envision for the future of downtown – vibrant, welcoming and full of life.”
The PDBA looks forward to hosting similar events in the future and continuing to promote local talent and community engagement.
