The Parksville Museum will wrap up its summer season with a concert by harpist Janelle Nadeau on Sept. 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The museum has enjoyed a lively local following for its outdoor concert season so far, with attendees bringing their own lawn chairs and grooving to the music in the old-fashioned courtyard, according to a news release by the Parksville Museum.

This month the museum invites all to experience one last encore — something special for the transition into fall.

“While the outdoor format is the same, a concert featuring classical music is definitely new for us," said Susan Wismer, President of the Parksville & District Historical Society. "A number of museum visitors put forward this suggestion, so we wanted to follow it up, making sure we found some great talent to close out a successful summer season.”

“Classics in the Courtyard” will feature harpist Nadeau, an accomplished artist who draws from a diverse repertoire of classical, Celtic, original and well-known tunes.

Along with cellist Ashton Lim, an acclaimed orchestral player and chamber musician, the pair will showcase the classic combination of sublime sounds when harp and cello come together. Both performers reside in Vancouver but travel wherever the music takes them.

“Whether you’re a long-time fan of classical music or just want to give it a try and hear what it’s all about, ‘Classics in the Courtyard’ offers a chance to experience something special in a unique setting,” Wismer added.

Ticket are $35 and are on sale now online from Eventbrite, easily accessed via the museum’s website: www.parksvillemuseum.com, or at the gate, which opens at 5 p.m.

Alternatively, you can call the museum and leave a message to reserve a spot: 250-248-6966.

The Parksville Museum is located on the corner of Highway 19A and Northwest Bay Road, adjacent to the City of Parksville's Visitor Centre, with street parking on Northwest Bay Road.
