Popular wine fest approaching in Qualicum

Learn about wine from an industry expert, try tasty h’orderves like oysters and seafood, and sample wine from 20 wineries at the Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach’s 11th annual Wine Festival Saturday, April 13.

Get to the festival early at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre and enjoy a wine seminar by Michael Gelling from Victoria, who has over 20 years experience in the wine industry. Gelling worked for eight years in Vancouver and Victoria in restaurant management as well as consulting in the wine and retail business. He is now with International Cellars and has been a vineyard owner for seven years. He is a certified wine educator, he served with the Victoria Wine Society and he is co-founder of the Victoria Wine Academy.

Gelling with begin the seminar at 6 p.m. and the major wine tasting happens at 7 p.m.  The seminar is limited to the first 100 patrons.

The proceeds from the event go to support the Qualicum Beach Youth Fire Camp organized by the Q.B. Fire Department. Rotary also contributes to many other important causes in the community. A chauffeur service to take people home is available by donation.

Tickets for the event are $30 available from both Mulberry Bush Bookstores, at the Qualicum Beach Medicine Centre and the Memorial Compounding Centre. For more information call 250-752-8345.
