Sand Dollars club hosts the June Bug Jamboree

Square dancers will be kicking up their heels in Parksville

The Parksville Square Dance Club — The Sand Dollars — is holding a square dance weekend — the June Bug Jamboree — at the Bradley Centre in Coombs on June 8, 9 and 10.

The evening begins at 7:30 p.m. with round dancing and the main square dance starts at 8 p.m.

The club will have the Port Alberni Fiddlers providing the music for what they call old time dancing.

The next day there will be plus dancing from 1 until 3 p.m.

Saturday evening there will be a panel of callers and cuers from all over Vancouver Island and Powell River.

Sunday morning the Bradley Centre puts on a pancake breakfast.

The weekend’s events end with a trail out dance from 10:30 a.m. until about noon with a panel of callers.

For your information, there will also be a special UVICTA (callers) dance on June 2 at Nanoose Place hall.

This event starts at 7:30 p.m. with a panel of round dance cuers and the mainstream dance beginning at 8  p.m.
