The St. Andrews Lodge Historical and Cultural Society is launching its Twilight Concert Series at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 9 at the waterfront park behind the lodge.

The first concert will feature the Island Brass Quintet, a semi-professional group that includes retired music educators, full-time professional musicians and serious hobbyists, according to a news release by Shirley Culpin, the society’s director of communications. The quintet’s repertoire includes a variety of musical genres that includes classical, jazz, folk, pop and rock.

The concert series is designed as a fundraiser for the preservation and restoration of St. Andrews Lodge, one of the earliest tourist accommodation facilities in Qualicum Beach, according to the release. Over its 82 years of operation, it hosted generations of families who returned each summer and who continue to visit Qualicum Beach for annual vacations.

The concert will be held outdoors in the waterfront park behind the lodge, which is located at 3319 Island Highway West. Admission is by donation. Concert-goers are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of live music.
