TOSH summer musical festival continues

The second concert in the Old School House (TOSH) Arts Centre’s Summer Garden Music Festival is set for Friday, July 29.

Celtic harp and fiddle duo Olivia Barrett and Ellen Gibling will play at 7 p.m.

The concert location, a spacious Qualicum Beach garden, will be sent to ticket holders upon purchase.

Guests are asked to dress for the weather, bring their own chairs, water and snacks. There is no bathroom access at this venue.

Tickets are $35 plus GST and nonrefundable. It will be festival seating.

Gibling is a harpist based in K’jipuktuk/Halifax. She holds a Bachelor of Music in harp performance from McGill University and an MA in Irish Traditional Music Performance from the University of Limerick.

She has performed with Symphony Nova Scotia and the World Youth Orchestra of Jeunesses Musicales and has toured with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. Her Irish traditional duo with Erin Dempsey, Ragged Robin, released its debut album, Deep in the Tangled Wood, in 2016.

Barrett’s fiddle playing flows seamlessly between the old and the new, breathing life into traditional tunes through the rhythms of contemporary folk. Her music is defined by a gift for crafting new melodies from the traditions of Ireland, Scotland and Scandinavia.

The pop-up-style concert series features musicians in a variety of genres.

Guests are asked to arrive between 6:30 p.m. and 6:50 p.m., concerts will be from 7 p.m. - 8:15 pm.
