Oceanside foodies and wine-lovers rejoice, it’s time again for a weekend filled with elegant B.C. wines and delectable food at two of our celebrated beach resorts.

Parksville’s Uncorked Wine and Food Festival is fast approaching and organizers at The Beach Club Resort and Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort are starting to get giddy.

“We’re super excited about it,” said director of sales and marketing at The Beach Club, Natasha Richardson.

“We’ve really got some great wineries to showcase including a lot of Vancouver Island wineries that are new and up and coming,” she said, adding the event’s exquisite culinary offerings are also local.

New to this year’s schedule is an event called Untapped, kicking off the festival on Feb. 24 at Tigh-Na-Mara. This event will showcase local breweries paired with food, a casual presentation by a beer historian, along with local jazz performer Melissa Hill entertaining.

The signature event, Swirl, will take place at The Beach Club this year and each resort will host a winemaker’s dinner. A Bubbles and Brunch event will finish off the festival Feb. 27.

Last year’s festival events sold out, with festival-goers coming from all over the Island and beyond, so residents are encouraged to book early.

Richardson said the festival is a great way to showcase Parksville as the vibrant destination retreat it is rather than a sleepy, retirement community.
