Consider the unintended consequences

The bylaw designating all ALR in Qualicum Beach as “suitable for urban development” contravenes Provincial law, is unnecessary and stores up trouble for the future.

The bylaw designating all ALR in Qualicum Beach as “suitable for urban development” contravenes Provincial law, is unnecessary and stores up trouble for the future.

People of this town enjoy the open spaces, forests and parkland and it is part of why we came here to live.

The current mayor and council may not be intending to release this land for development, but are opening the door for unscrupulous people to do so in the future. The only people to benefit from this change would be the developers, and you would be robbing the residents of their amenities, for someone to make a quick buck.

Decisions you take now will affect generations as yet unborn, and you need to consider very carefully the possible unintended consequences of this change.
