I can’t believe the mayor and council of Parksville took it upon themselves to give themselves a big fat raise without consultation with the taxpayers of Parksville.
This is a totally unacceptable increase for these folks. I’m sorry people, but you knew what you were getting into when you took these positions and now you feel you deserve an increase. Your term has only begun and we have not one iota of proof that you are with an increase of that magnitude. You really need to give your collective heads a shake and re-evaluate this nonsense.
To use the lame excuse of wanting to hire younger, brighter people to these positions is just hogwash. This a retirement community for the most part and we do not have a very large “young person” demographic and what makes you think the younger people are any brighter or knowledgeable then the seasoned veterans?
Totally disgusting and unnecessary increase. How about letting the folks you work for decide on your increase?
