I wanted to congratulate (the NEWS) staff for the excellent information provided regarding the coming local elections for Parksville and Qualicum Beach councils, the Regional District of Nanaimo local seats, as well as District 69 school board.
I’d also like to congratulate the school board for creating an information meeting for potential trustees. The most important way our democracy stays strong is not only by voting on election day, but especially by taking the time to find great candidates for all the positions available in our community.
If we aren’t spending time finding and working for great candidates to help them get elected, then democracy is dead.
When Barb Evans and myself proposed a District 69 PAC, we hoped that they would not only support each school but that they would especially work toward providing their children and the community with a vibrant, family connected and informed school board.
Where are the great candidates and are we working to find and support them?
