SOS is committed to serving our community and addressing residents’ evolving needs. To that end, we are making strategic adjustments to ensure the long-term sustainability of our programs and services, allowing us to continue making a positive impact on the lives of District 69 residents with the resources we have available.
As part of this effort, we will be centralizing our Child, Youth, and Family Programs at our Parksville location, ending our tenancy at Qualicum Commons. This was a difficult decision, influenced in part by the uncertain future of the Qualicum facility. We want to assure families all programs previously offered in Qualicum will continue at our Parksville Community Services Centre, where we believe we can offer expanded opportunities and resources.
Similarly, after careful consideration, we are prioritizing programs with the broadest reach and deepest impact. This has led to the decision to transition away from the Seniors Connecting Program. This decision was not made lightly, and we remain deeply committed to supporting seniors through our essential programs, including Oceanside Better at Home, Seniors Advocacy Services, Meals On Wheels and Medical Appointment Transportation Service. These critical services will continue to provide vital support to our seniors.
These strategic shifts are necessary to maximize our impact for socially and economically disadvantaged residents and avoid duplication of services, ensuring we can continue to effectively address the most pressing needs in our community.
The heart of SOS is the unwavering support of our community. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of our donors. Your time, donations to our Thrift Shop, and financial contributions are the fuel that allows us to adapt, innovate and continue serving the residents of District 69 for years to come.
