Re: 'French Creek conservation society upset with development near heron's nest' (PQB News, Dec. 25)

We have read about the planned development and are very concerned this development has been permitted in such an ecologically sensitive area. We fully support the work Denise Foster is doing with the Save Estuary Land Society.

We are concerned that the construction activity will have serious negative impact on the heron nests and the wetland. We understand the Official Community Plans are as old as 16 and 30 years. These OCPs need to be re-evaluated and development put on hold until all stakeholders can be heard.

As for the actual construction work already permitted, the sheer scope of needed imported soil will require dozens of trucks all of which will make a muddy mess of roads to and from the development.

The added traffic volume will also put more strain on the Columbia Drive Highway 19 intersection, the only road exit from the entire Columbia Beach neighbourhood.
