Sincere thanks to everyone who supported our poppy campaign this year. With your help, we exceeded last year’s contributions and enjoyed a record attendance at our Remembrance Day service again, rain notwithstanding.
Many thanks to all the many volunteers who assisted manned poppy trays and helped make our service a success. Support from local businesses, the CFB Comox Military Police Flight, cadet units that sent cadets to assist with wreaths and stand vigil, Arrowsmith Pipes and Drums, Jim and Mic for traffic control, the Bowser Tennis Club who parked cars and, of course, our ladies auxiliary, who fed everyone after the service was necessary and all greatly appreciated.
It is only possible to continue to ensure we observe Remembrance Day with the excellent support of the community.
The Bowser Branch #211 of the Royal Canadian Legion’s mission is to serve veterans, including currently serving military and RCMP, and their families; to promote remembrance, and to serve our communities and our country. Our work throughout the year is to this aim. In November every year, we take a short time to observe the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, especially to remember all those who fought and died that we may have the privileges’ and freedoms that we enjoy today. When you wear a poppy you show that you honour and respect those who have gone before. We thank all of the community who help us continue to do this.
We will see you at our open house on Jan. 1 for our levee, when we will usher in the New Year.
