‘RDN-speak’ at its finest

For any RDN board member to suggest or imply that the District 69 Recreation Commission had control over $5.6 million in taxpayer dollars is absolutely ludicrous!

For any RDN board member to suggest or imply that the District 69 Recreation Commission had control over $5.6 million in taxpayer dollars is absolutely ludicrous!

It also reflects how little is the understanding of the role of the D69 RecCom as it related to RDN recreation services management and public liaison with the RDN board of directors.

In 2018, the RDN D69 RecCom never even had a copy or any discussion on the RDN recreation services budgeting process. If it had, there would have been a D69 Ravensong Pool expansion, track and field upgrade and a land acquisition for a sportplex completed by now as recommended back in the 2006 RDN recreation services master plan.

Business Management 101.

To suggest our RDN elected officials “will give improved governance” and be more “open to the public” while spending more time in-camera than ever before is RDN-speak at its best.

As commissioner Randy White has suggested, “this is only the tip of the iceberg for the difficulties that will appear in Qualicum and Parksville in the future.”

The [Parksville Qualicum Beach] community needs new and improved recreation facilities, not more dumb politics. Period.
