Trains the perfect way to see the Island

My husband and I used to travel by train from Calgary to Vancouver. $100 got us a bedroom with the bed turned down for us. Dinner was on white linen; four-course meals for $10.

The scenery was fabulous. The train suddenly was given a name, the Rocky Mountaineer: advertising directed to tourists and it now costs thousands.

A rail line from Victoria to the north would certainly be used by commuters and shoppers.

Many tourists on limited time would find it the perfect way to see the Island, including our fabulous mountain ranges and unblemished countryside.

In many countries it’s the only way to travel and if they can afford it why can’t we?
