A new lease was signed at the Eaglecrest Golf Course, ensuring the course can keep its 17th hole for the next 20 years.

The golf course leases the 17th hole from the Town of Qualicum Beach and Mayor Teunis Westbroek and Co-owner of Eaglecrest Golf Course Paul Kim signed the agreement, putting to rest any speculation that the land would be used for other purposes.

“There’s been rumors that there was going to be a shopping centre put on the 17th hole,” said Kim to some chuckles from the crowd. “That the golf course was only going to be 16 holes because we were going to loose the 17 hole. None of that was true so it’s just nice to put the pen to paper.”

Westbroek said the town has built a lasting relationship with the Kim family over the past four years, and the family has made tremendous improvements to the course.
