Studio exhibition slated for Nanoose Bay area

Studio tour artists to show they have a flair with brush and palette

Artists with the Nanoose Bay Studio Tour group are holding a group studio exhibition at Nanoose Place on May 5 and 6 to showcase all in one convenient location, the wide range of art and crafts being offered by the 14 participating studios.

Works available include pottery, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry, paintings, prints, cards, quilts and items that defy easy categorization, all handmade by artists living and creating within the boundaries of Nanoose Bay.

The group show will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days and admission is free.

The Nanoose Bay Studio Tour group was originally formed in 2009 to provide local artists collectively with a way to make themselves and their studios known to the community and to visitors to the area.

Not only do the participating artists offer some amazing work, but many of the studio properties themselves are just as interesting as the artwork.

Studios range from purpose-built cabins in the garden, to attic studios in estate homes.

There are workshops at the end of winding country lanes, and a converted boat house right on the beach. All are identified with a numbered starfish sign.

Most participating studios are open to the public at varying times throughout the year, and all are open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on each of the three days of Thanksgiving weekend for the major annual studio tour event October 6, 7 and 8.

Detailed information is available at www.NanooseBayStudioTour.com, as well as in the studio guide at the local visitors centres and various local businesses.

Nanoose Place is located at 2925 Northwest Bay Road.
