The finale for So You Think You Can Dance Qualicum (SYTYCD) will not be taking place this weekend.
A gala and finale was set for May 20 at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, but due to many contributing factors, the event has been delayed and a new date is still to be determined.
SYTYCD co-ordinator Oura Giakoumakis said she hopes it will take place some time in June and it may be held at a different venue.
When it does take place, the finale will include a gala dinner and a night of dance performances that will include two group numbers, one hip hop, the other contemporary, professionally choreographed. As well there will be a group number done by the finalists.
The Oceanside Hospice Society is the beneficiary of all funds raised from the event.
The goal of SYTYCD Qualicum is to bridge the gap between young and old in the community and to help mark the 70th birthday of the Town of Qualicum Beach.
Youth between Grades six to12 auditioned for the contest back in April and the finalists include four dancers from Qualicum Beach; 14 year old Lily Ries, 13 year old April Davidson, 14-year-old Charlotte Telfer-Wan and 11-year-old Kat Giakoumakis.
Two Port Alberni dancers made the cut and include 11-year-old Holden Cole and 12-year-old Olivia Fox.
Fifteen-year old Kiana Smith from Nanoose Bay is a finalist who will perform in the finale as well as 16-year-old Francis Richard from Nanaimo.
The winner will receive a trip for two to Las Vegas, including flights, accommodation, dance workshops in their dance form and tickets to see a Cirque du Soleil show.
