Bringing a family-friendly twist to Charles Dickens’ classic tale, the upcoming production of ‘Oliver!’ at The Village Theatre promises laughter, excitement and heartwarming moments for audiences of all ages.

Audiences are transported to the vibrant streets of Victorian London where they witness the resilience and courage of young Oliver Twist, portrayed with heart and authenticity by Joey Scoffings and Anya Dukto.

The musical adaptation captures the essence of Oliver’s journey from the oppressive confines of the workhouse to the bustling streets where he encounters a cast of unforgettable characters.

From the conniving Fagin, brilliantly portrayed by Brian Tull, to the charming and streetwise Artful Dodger, played with charisma by James Miguel, each character embodies the spirit of Dickens’s original creation. Lyra Sales shines as Nancy, capturing the complexity of her character with grace and vulnerability.

The inclusion of iconic songs such as ‘Food, Glorious Food’ and ‘Consider Yourself’ adds depth and emotion to the narrative, resonating with the themes of longing, belonging, and the pursuit of a better life.

As audiences are swept away by the captivating performances and stirring musical numbers, they are reminded of the enduring relevance of Dickens’s social commentary on poverty, injustice, and the power of compassion.
