Vancouver-based singer-songwriters Reid Jamieson and Carolyn Victoria Mill will play a concert in Parksville on June 2.
The duo are known for the wide variety of music they love to share with an audience, touching on everything from John Lennon to 1980s favourites. They’ll be at Knox United Church (345 Pym St.) for a 2 p.m. concert.
“We like to really mix it up, so it will be a lot of originals, but a lot of favourites and interpretations that we do,” said Mill, also known as CVM. “For instance from our Leonard Cohen tribute, or our 50s era one.”
The classic introvert-extrovert duo will also play some originals pulled from their most recent album Me Daza, recorded in Ireland. They also can draw on songs from their musical The Pigeon & The Dove, which premiered at the 2023 Vancouver Fringe Festival.
The inspiration for writing songs has changed over the years, said Jamieson.

“I really don’t feel like making music unless there’s a direct, sort of connection with healing something or someone,” he said. “Having not just a story — educating or a social justice aspect.”
Mill added that purpose, beauty and helping the audience escape are all part of what drives their songs.
When they cover a song, there is a focus on elocution — they really want the audience to understand the words.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online via Eventbrite or with cash at Parksville retailers Close to You Boutique and Fireside Books.
