At their June 5 meeting, the 100 Men of Oceanside group selected the Canadian Federation of University Women Parksville Qualicum  (CFUWPQ) Scholarship and Bursary Trust to receive its quarterly award and presented them with the full $13,600 donation on July 3.

The donation will enable the CFUWPQ Scholarship and Bursary Trust to support a number of mature Oceanside women, including single mothers working low-paying jobs, to get post-secondary education/training.

This is increasingly possible through online and local educational undertakings, allowing they and their families to remain in the community. This financial support will assist with fees, books and other costs associated with this training/education without which the move towards the realization of their full employment potential and the betterment of their family circumstances might not occur.

The next meeting of the 100 Men of Oceanside will take place Sept 4 (7 p.m.) at the Morningstar Golf Club,  525 Lowry's Rd., Parksville.  A social hour starting at 6 p.m. will precede the meeting and is open to all members and guests.
