Doug Kitts is running for Regional District of Nanaimo Area G director.
Kitts is a 12-year resident of Parksville, having moved here from the Lower Mainland when he retired from his career in telecommunications and security after 30 years, according to a news release.
Kitts graduated from York University with degrees in Geography, Climatology and Physical Education, then played one season of professional football before moving to B.C.
Since coming to Parksville, he has served as president of Parksville Qualicum Beach Fish and Game Association and is currently president of the BC Wildlife Federation (BCWF) Region 1 for all of Vancouver Island.
Kitts has also served on the Watershed Coalition, so he knows the geography of Area G and is familiar with proper land-use.
As a conservation advocate for Area G, he has been a liaison for all levels of government on behalf of BCWF, all local sportsmen, sports fishermen and anyone who wants recreation on the Island.
