A Qualicum Beach resident has launched a national petition to demand the federal government implement national drinking water regulations.
Susan Blacklin, author of Water Confidential, has co-sponsored the petition along with 16 individuals and organizations, according to a news release.
Many guidelines for Canadian drinking water quality exist due to health concerns, according to the release, but guidelines are not legally enforceable and do not necessarily set a drinking water advisory in motion.
The petition can be found online at https://www.ourcommons.ca/petitions/en/Petition/Sign/e-5164 and can be signed until 11:49 a.m. on Dec. 7.
