MLA Stephanie Higginson plans to have two offices — one in Parksville and one in Ladysmith.
“I was originally only assigned one office — the budget for one office," said Higginson. "But I called back to the assembly and the clerk’s office who does this work and effectively advocated for two, so I’ve been given the approval.”
The locations are to be determined and it will take some time to set them up since they are dependent on market availability, Higginson added.
The legislative assembly's leasing service department is working on finding appropriate spaces in terms of requirements like accessibility, safety and security.
“There’s a whole lot of new MLAs and a whole lot of new offices that need to be opened," Higginson said.
In the meantime, phone numbers are up for both offices: the Parksville office can be reached at 250-248-2625 and Ladysmith at 250-245-9375

“We’re going to work on getting some pop-up offices in the meantime. We’re just kind of slowly working through a backlog and some other key priorities right now,” Higginson said. “We’re here to serve. We’re getting ourselves up and running and looking really forward to doing the work with the community."
