Donations are pouring in from the community after a Qualicum Beach family's sudden loss of a father.
Rick Jassar died suddenly and left a grieving wife Vanessa and children Mason and Hudson, who recently lost a grandfather in 2024.
A GoFundMe campaign has so far raised more than $27,000 to ensure Mason, who has nonverbal autism, can continue receiving care and support from his specialized team, according to the post by Taylee Dawn.
"[Mason] is a complex individual requiring specific support needs. He thrives in an environment that is quiet where there is low stimulation, he has access to lots of opportunity for movement and staff who are highly trained in supporting individuals with unique needs," the post said. "He requires a constant 1:1 support who can remain present and attuned to him to support with daily life tasks such as putting on his shoes, eating and self-care."
The campaign's goal is to raise $30,000 and can be found at gofundme.com/f/rick-jassar.
