Parksville Fire Rescue put out a brush fire this afternoon (Sept. 9).

The fire department arrived to find the blaze in the rail corridor next to a farm on Lornedunn Road, located off Church Road, according to Fire Chief Marc Norris.

The fire was approximately 100 feet by 30 feet in size and was extinguished quickly thanks to a quick call to 911 by the neighbour.

"We could not find any cause for the fire, but suspect it to be human caused," Norris said in an email to the PQB News.

Parksville Fire rescue had 11 personnel on scene.

The fire department is in the process of informing the Island Corridor Foundation about the incident, as the fire occurred on the ICF's right-of-way
