Parksville Fire Rescue will open its regular Monday night practice on Jan. 20 to residents living in the Parksville Fire Protection Area interested in learning more about being a volunteer paid on-call firefighter.
During the department's annual recruitment campaign, it looks for positive, energetic and community-minded men and women to join a team of volunteer paid on-call firefighters, according to news release by Parksville Fire Rescue.
Practice runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrive by 6:30 p.m., dress for the weather, and stay as long as you wish.
This is an opportunity to observe a practice, see firsthand what’s involved in training to be a firefighter, ask questions and chat with members.
The Parksville fire hall is located at 160 Jensen Ave. W.
Volunteer paid on-call and career firefighters are highly skilled professionals who value integrity, honesty, selflessness, commitment, courage, and are hardworking and family oriented.
